The shows were just a couple short days after Camp Rock premiered on the disney channel, so it was very exciting to see her sing in person! 

The first day, I got there late and was running in halfway through the first song (That’s How You Know). When I first heard her voice blasting through the venue and then saw her dancing up on stage, a rush of adrenaline overwhelmed my body. She seriously has such an incredible voice. I was so excited to see her, that I didn’t even   bother finding my friends in the crowd until the show had ended. 

We waited around for Demi to come out the side entrance to meet her, but as the crowd grew larger, we started losing hope. My friends and I heard one girl say something about Demi staying at the Trump Hotel, so we thought up a plan. We didn’t want to have to sit around at the hotel waiting, so we decided to stay at the venue until we saw Demi come out, and then we’d run into a cab to beat her to the hotel just minutes before she arrives. Well, it worked! We got out of the cab and only about 6 other people had thought to do the same thing. 

About 15 minutes later, the black escalade drove up to the hotel steps and we all waited anxiously for her to step out of the car. She looked beautiful, as usual, and was as sweet as can be. She stopped to take pictures and talk with everybody there and she didn’t look even slightly annoyed. I almost forgot, guess who walked out with her? Papa Jonas! He was on the phone, but he waved to us! haha.

The next day, I looked online and saw that she had another show that night at the same venue. Because I enjoyed the show so much, I asked around all my friends that I could to see if they wanted to come with me. It wasn’t until about 2 hours before the show that I finally found people to go with me! We hopped on a train and raced into New York City just in time for the show! Again, the show was fantastic! Demi has so much energy during her fast songs, and then during her slower songs she really knows how to lighten the mood of the fans and she gets so emotionally into each song. (Spotted at the show also was Mandy Van Duyne, Mike Bruno [of Honor Society], and Phil Bensen.

After this show, we were luckily able to just meet Demi outside of the venue. She took a long time to come out, and we were about to give up. We literally got into a cab and then heard commotion erupt. Quickly, we yelled to the cab driver, “WAIT, STOP!!!!” and we ran out and got our pictures. haha! It was a hilarious experience. It was such perfect timing.

It was a week before Zootopia. The lineup for the show was Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Simple Plan, Sara Bareilles, Gavin DeGraw, Jesse McCartney, Ferras, OneRepublic, Jordin Sparks, Danity Kane, and New Kids on the Block. Before each Zootopia, there is also a preshow which is very conveniently free of charge (which would feature Metro Station, Sara Barellies, Push Play, and Flyleaf).

I was sitting in math class day dreaming about how fun the concert would be, but the problem was that I hadn’t gotten any tickets for the show. Earlier, I had searched online for cheap tickets, but I couldn’t find any in my desired price range. After thinking about how fun it would be and how much I would be missing out if I didn’t go, I passed a note to my friend Emily who sat behind me in math saying “Can we PLEASE go to Zootopia?” She replied back, “Yes.”  

We gathered a group of 4 girls and planned out how to get there and get home and were excited to go, however, we still did not have tickets. We decided that we could just go to the pre-show because we loved the bands playing there and figured that it was better than not going at all. 

When we arrived, there were tons and tons of people there. There were booths set up all over the place with raffles with cool prizes including band meet and greets, merchandise, and TICKETS. We tried so hard to win tickets. We entered every contest we could find a billion times, but we didn’t luck out. We were still able to see the free bands, luckily, which was really fun!

Metro Station is always really fun to see in concert because their music is really upbeat and catchy. To our surprise, we spotted Miley, who is a sibling to Trace who is in the band, standing and rocking out on the side of the stage with her mom. That was exciting! Next to play was Sara Barellies. I was shocked by her performance. She has a truly incredible voice and so much talent on the piano. I loved watching her sing. Later was Push Play and Flyleaf. Although I didn’t know that many of their songs, I knew enough to have fun. Push Play was into the show enough that I was able to have fun with barely even knowing the words. Flyleaf was a little scary, I must admit, but they were also very good. 

As we were giving up hope and about to leave because the doors had just opened for the show, we went to wait for our ride to come pick us up. But suddenly, we saw a woman walking around with a sign taped to her t-shirt that read “SELLING FOUR TICKETS”. We rushed up to her freaking out because we were so ecstatic. She sold us each a ticket for only $30 each, and the seats weren’t even that terrible. They were behind the stage, which was really funny, but we really just wanted to go. But it turned out that the seats were actually really cool. There was a screen back there, so we could see what was going on just as well as if we were to have sat in the front and far away. Also, we could see backstage from above, so we could see each performer before they hit the stage. For example, we saw Miley before she went on. She was dancing like crazy with her best friend, Mandy, to Jesse McCartney who was singing at the time. We also saw the Jonas Brothers before they went on and Joe was doing push-ups yo warm up for the performance. It was awesome!

The show all in all was very good. I didn’t like all of the performers, (like Danity Kane and New Kids On the Block), but the other awesome bands made it worth while.

So anyway, on November 5th, Kevin Jonas turned 21 years old! Happy Birthday Kevin! Kevin is one of the sweetest guys I’ve ever met and in his 21 years, he’s accomplished SO much. Looks like he had a great day! He spent it with his family and friends on the beach and driving around in a friends ferrari that he borrowed for the day. Couldn’t get much better than that!

It’s really amazing, you should all go pick up a copy!

The CD has 13 tracks. Each song is very original and tells it’s own story. 

On the CD, there are hidden messages in the lyrics which is really cool. There are random capitalized letters and here’s what each song spells out in code:

Hey guys!

Sorry that i haven’t written in a really long time! I’ve been pretty busy with school and all that, but i feel as if it was important to do one quick post congratulating Barack Obama, our new president!

I really could NOT be happier that he won this election! I was so scared that something would go wrong and McCain would steal the race. I’m not going to go too much into politics because this blog is for music, but Obama will hopefully do amazing things for our country and I believe in him 100%. He’ll bring in the change that we NEED in this country. 

So there you have it. My first and probably last political blog post =]

Congratulations Obama! YOU’RE THE MAN!

If you liked reading about day one of The Bamboozle, then you’ll definitely love this one even more! 

During day two, I went through more adventures, and met a bunch more really cool people!

I lost my schedule for that day, but I will try to remember the order that things happened in.

First, we started out by seeing “All Time Low” and “The Academy Is…” I love both of their music! They each sang a ton of songs that I knew and totally rocked the stage. Again, we got to stand up there with them, which was really fun. I had to leave All Time Low a tiny bit early because right when they ended, The Academy Is was to start at a different stage and there was quite the walk to get to it. When we made it to The Academy Is, we were just in time to hear them play their awesome set. We had some extra time after their set, so we walked up to them and told them that they did a great job and grabbed a few pictures with different band members.

After this, it was time to go see the band Cobra Starship! I was SO excited for this because I am in love with their music and they’re just all around really awesome.  I also had a feeling that Travis from Gym Class Heroes would be joining them on stage because they sing some songs together and Gym Class Heroes were scheduled to play later that day. When I got up on the stage, I peeked over and saw the entire set list. I was so excited when I saw so many songs that I knew! When they came on stage, my friend and I were right up front. They were awesome, and about 1/3 through the set, my friend and I spotted a man in a blue hoodie across standing where we were but on the opposite site of the stage. It was Travis from Gym Class Heroes! We were freaking out: One, because Travis Mccoy was right there! And two, because this pretty much guaranteed a duet! Soon enough, Travis came up stage and sang a song with them! It was awesome! They perform so well together. After it ended, we spotted Gabe Saporta, the lead singer of Cobra Starship, standing in a tented area backstage. We walked over when a couple girls were talking to him. One of them was crying hysterically, saying how she loves them and has always wanted to meet him. He was being so nice to her and hugging her and gave her a kiss on the cheek and everything! I was shocked! Who knew that rock stars could be so friendly to their fans! After they walked away, we went up to him and told him how awesome they played their set. He was also really friendly to us! In fact, later, when we were in this VIP lunch area eating, we were at a lunch table next to him when he was being interviewed. He was on video camera and the lady asked him to show off his outfit. He pointed to his shoes and described them, and then looks over at us and points to my friend and was like, “Look at her outfit! How sweet is that! She’s wearing purple jeans and a silver headband.” We DIED! Unfortunately, we have yet to find this video, even after looking everywhere for it! But if I find it, I’ll definitely post it!

Moving on, the next band that we saw that day was We the Kings. You’d probably know them from their popular song “Check Yes Juliet”. They played Bamboozle a little before that song became popular, but I knew them from somewhere else luckily so I was able to see them play. They played on a pretty small stage, so it was packed with people in the back. My friend and I had to squeeze our way up, and before we knew it, we were practically standing right next to the guitarist! Pretty intimidating! Haha. They played really great, as expected. They were running around the stage and flipping their excessively long hair all over the place!

Wow, this blog post is insanely long, I’m sorry. If you’re still reading, go get a snack. It’s about halfway over.

We walked into the area where many of the tour buses were parked, just to explore a little since we had time to hang out until our next show. Back there, we saw Gabe from Cobra Starship again many times just hanging out by his van, which was really cool. We discovered which buses belonged to which bands and everything. After getting bored of this, we went down into Giants Stadium. We knew that this was where the big headliner band’s dressing rooms were located but only people with passes could go back there. As we were going in, we also saw Travis from Gym Class Heroes walking down there. I wouldn’t say we followed him. Well, I guess we did a little.  Anyway, we ended up finding out that he had a special meet and greet for about ten people who were there. We waited for them to finish and then went up to him to talk to him. He was really cool and chill and very, very funny. He was dancing around with us and singing about our outfits and everything. He even gave us these cool bags from his dressing room with CDs inside just to be nice! We then got pictures with him and he went back into his dressing room.

*Side note, Katy Perry was there the entire time but this was before she was popular and so we had no idea! We just knew it was his girlfriend, who turns out IS Katy Perry! Bummer

We spotted a golf cart drive by, and looked at the back and it was Brendon Urie from Panic! At the Disco! My friend screamed “I LOVE YOU BRENDON!” and he goes, “I LOVE YOU TOO!” haha! It was really cool because we both love that band!!

The next singer to come on stage was Bret Michaels. He is in the band Poison and on the TV show “Rock of Love”. I don’t know any of his music, but the people backstage were causing a huge commotion when he was coming out, so it was clear that he was a big deal! We all had to clear a path for him so that he could run right up onto the stage! The crowd up on stage was really packed, so we only stayed up there for about half of the show. He really knew how to work the crowd. He’s a great performer! When he got off stage, so many people backstage were trying to take pictures with him but security was really tight and they we shielding him from most people. The coolest thing happened though. Me, my friend, and my dad were able to go privately onto his tour bus with him! I’ve never been on a tour bus, especially with a celebrity! It was so surreal and awesome. He seemed really nice and down to earth. He offered us drinks and asked us questions and let us take pictures. There was a reporter there from the New York Times, and so a couple weeks later, we were featured in the New York Times with Bret!

That was definitely one of the coolest experiences I’ve been able to have!

Gym Class Heroes were next, and we were super excited since we had all those cool encounters with Travis earlier in the day! We got in line to go up the stairs to go up on stage pretty early so that we could get decent spots. We ended up getting pretty good spots, in fact, we were standing right behind Chris Crocker and Jeffree Star. (From Youtube.) They had their arms around each other most of the time. It was creepy, yet cool. Gym Class Heroes performed really greatly and I knew even more songs than I thought I would! Their music is just in general really fun, so it was all entertaining, (even if I didn’t know the song).

Lastly, Panic! At the Disco performed. Unfortunately, for their set, only their friends and family were allowed to come up, so we had to watch from the side. At this point, it was freezing cold, really late, and we were SO tired! We stayed for about 5 or 6 songs before heading out. They started off with “Nine in The Afternoon”, which was their hit at the time, and followed it with a few of their old hits. After a few we left Bamboozle 2008. The worst part about Bamboozle is having to leave because you know that it won’t be for an entire year until we get to do this all again with brand new bands. I had the time of my life and enjoyed every second of it!! =D

Ever wanted to see almost all of your favorite bands over the course of just TWO days? Well, The Bamboozle made that possible for me not once, but twice. I talked in a previous blog about Bamboozle of 2007. Well I went again to Bamboozle 2008 and it was insanely fun.

If I wrote about both days in one blog, your mind would probably go insane, so I’ll split it up. Here’s day ONE of Bamboozle. Saturday, May 3^rd, 2008.

Once again, I was lucky enough to have the backstage passes to all the bands that were there, which was really awesome because this year even more bands that I loved were playing there. I had been waiting for this weekend for months and when the day finally came, I could not sit still. Bamboozle is probably one of the biggest highlights of my year.

I had a very busy schedule for that day, here’s a picture of what my Saturday looked like (this was the actual schedule I used when I got there):

When I first arrived, it was about 12:20 so I had to run like a mad man to get to Secondhand Serenade before it started (at 12:30). I darted out of the car and ran through 2 backstage areas as a short cut. Once I spotted the correct stage, I had 5 minutes until starting time. There was a huge massive crowd that I’d have to get through to get to the backstage entrance, so we pushed out way through and finally got to the front and up to the stage in record time. His set was really great, as usual, but we had to run quickly from there in order to make Cute Is What We Aim For. We got there a little late, but, it was alright and we were still able to hear lots of songs that we knew and loved. Then, from there we left a little bit early because we really didn’t want to miss Metro Station, plus, we wanted to get a good spot of the stage right up front so that we could see well.  The plan worked and we were right up front for Metro Station! It was so cool seeing Mason Musso and Trace Cyrus there. They were so energetic on stage and kept turning around to us because we were surrounded by their personal friends (like Kelsey from their song “Kelsey”). We got to meet Trace and Mason afterwards, and they were so friendly and nice. 

We had plenty of time between Metro Station and Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, so we walked around and then went up to the stage to make sure we got good spots on the stage again. They’re always so crazy and energetic, and at the end they even tore apart their drumset and threw it out into the crowd! It was awesome! I wish I could have gotten a piece!

Later, I also saw Hit the Lights, Mindless Self Indulgence, Tokio Hotel, Rocket Summer, Jack’s Mannequin,and The Bravery. Hit the Lights was fun, even though I don’t know many of their songs. Mindless Self Indulgence was CRAZY. They have so much energy and have the coolest outfits and hairstyles! It’s so entertaining to watch then perform. Tokio Hotel was really cool to see because I’d discovered their music a year earlier on the trip to France. They were on the cover of every magazine there and I’d never heard of them so I looked up their music and loved them. They have such a different style than American music but I love it. The Rocket Summer was really fun because I knew all the songs they performed so we could really enjoy hearing them live. They’re so good live, I love their sound. It’s so unique. Jack’s Mannequin was great but I only knew one of the songs that they played so I couldn’t rock out too much there. Haha. Then The Bravery played, but we didn’t get to hear much of them because we were in a time strain. But we walked by and stopped for the few minutes to listen from the crowd and they were really good too. 

Last was Paramore. I’m not a huge fan of Paramore, but we got to see the whole Band before they went on and they were so nice! Haley was really nervous but excited before going on stage. It was really cool to see how they all acted right before they went up. Then later, when their performance was over, they all ran off the stage and were jumping around because they were so excited from their great performance.

We ended up leaving before seeing Jimmy Eat World because it was freezing cold and we were extremely tired from the long day.

Overall, day one of Bamboozle was incredible, making me even more pumped for the second day. I’ll write about it soon!

I got it yesterday because I pre-ordered it and let me tell you , it’s AMAZING!

I love every single song. Usually I skip over some songs, but on this CD I can’t skip over anything!

She also sings a duet with the Jonas Brothers! Maybe they’ll perform it together someday! That would be awesome.

This was around the time that JB were reaching complete and total stardom. When I got there, me and my friends met up with a man who works with the Jonas Brothers and he gave us passes to their soundcheck. After signing their bus, we saw a mob of people so we got closer to see who it was. It was CJ from Pushplay and the Jonas Brothers’ best friend, Mandy! We squished in and got quick pictures with each of them. 

Afterwards, we had to wait in a massive line to get into the soundcheck and there were no assigned seats. We just had to walk in a single filed line and wherever you ended up you had to sit down. Somehow, we got first row, directly in front of Nick which was awesome! Before they came out, this lady who was working there walked up to me and gave me a card and told me that the Jonas Brothers would ask people if they have any questions and to ask them the question written on the card and i had to wave the card i nthe air so they would know to pick me. My friend and I both wanted to ask so we made a compromise, she raised her hand to get called on, and I asked the question. The question was, “What are your must-haves in the dressing room.” When they came out, they informed us that they would be playing 3 songs, and answering some questions. 

There were only about 4 rows of people, plus the staff in the back who were all wearing “Future Mrs. Jonas” t-shirts which was really funny! So, they played “Hello Beautiful” which was amazing! And then they called on us for the question. Joe answered first saying as a joke, “A tiger and a jello slip ‘n’ slide.” Kevin answered saying that they have this really cool entertainment case including “Guitar Hero” and a bunch of other games. Lastly, Nick answered saying that he would need Diet Dr. Pepper. 

After a few questions, they got back to playing and finished off with “Australia” and “S.O.S.” At the end we got Nick’s guitar pick too! The soundcheck was really amazing because there were so little people there that it was much more personal than a normal, huge concert.

Right after the soundcheck was over, we had to run and get on line for the meet and greet. In line, we were standing behind Joyce Kimberly from the Jonas Brothers’ Street Team and Tiffany Giardina, and Mandy Van Duyne, and CJ Baran (Lead singer of the band PushPlay [and his little sister]) were behind us. We also noticed one other familiar looking girl and realized that it was no other than Maya,  the Jonas Brother’s best friend/fake sister! I got a picture with her too which was really awesome! She was so sweet! 

Thankfully, this time at the meet and greet they were in much better moods but unfortunately the security guards weren’t allowing pictures to be taken with the boys, even when we tried. However, they did say that they remembered us which was a plus. And when we walked out, we saw Phil Bensen in the hallway! For those of you who don’t know who he is, he’s an AMAZING singer who used to tour with the Jonas Brothers. Click on his name if you want to check out his songs. You won’t regret it :]

So after all of these fun events, the actual concert was starting! Rooney opened up for the Jobros. They were amazing! During their set, the Joe ran out in a gorilla costume and Kevin (or Garbo?) came out in a banana costume and they were chasing each other around the stage! It was hilarious! When the Jonas Brothers came on the crowd burst into screams. They played new songs that I’d never heard live before such as “Burnin’ Up”, “Shelf”, “A Little Bit Longer,” and “Pushing Me Away.” I knew all the lyrics and most people were looking at me like I was nuts because I already knew the words. Haha. During “A Little Bit Longer”, my friend Lauren appeared on the screen crying. :’( So many people in the crowd were. During one part of the show, Frankie, the Bonus Jonas, came on stage to say hi! He was adorable! People went crazy when he appeared!! (Including me!!) 

Overall it was another amazing day :]

He turns 16 years old today!

Sweet 16! This is a big day for him! I hope he enjoys it and gets to relax a bit!

So, Nicholas Jerry Jonas, with the .000001% chance that you ever read this, Happy Birthday! You’re an inspiration to thousands of kids. You’re both a hero and an amazing role model. Don’t ever change. Stay humble. Stay the Nick we all know and love.
